IQ tests, in conjunction with
cognitive/achievement tests, allow the examiner to determine if there is a gap between
what a person is able to learn and what they have learned.
LD assessments measure basic psychological processes and
indentify specific skill deficits, and are used are by
schools and colleges to create IEPs (Individual Education
Plans) and to provide reasonable accommodations to students
with learning disabilities. While many public school
systems do provide testing at no charge, there is usually
one psychologist assigned to many schools, and it can
sometimes
take months to get your child tested. |
